What is experiential marketing?

Experiential marketing is the discipline of designing campaigns that people can walk into, interact with and remember. Instead of targeting consumers through interruptive advertising, experiential campaigns invite a self-selecting audience into a branded space physical or hybrid and reward them with an experience worth sharing.

The core output is memorable engagement. The secondary outputs press coverage, social content, first-party data, sampling, sales follow from the quality of the in-person experience. Great experiential marketing makes the brand stand for something specific by giving people something specific to do, touch, taste or play with.

Pop-up shops and immersive retail

Temporary physical spaces that turn a product story into a browsable, touchable environment. The most common experiential format in London, and the most versatile equally useful for consumer launches and B2B press days.

Brand houses and narrative environments

Multi-zone activations that walk attendees through a designed sequence of rooms, moments or interactive stations. Best for campaigns where the brand story needs time to land.

Interactive installations

Single-moment, high-impact installations engineered for social reach. Often deploy technology projection, sensors, generative content to create a single shareable hero moment.

and trial activations

Footfall-led experiences designed to maximise product sampling and first-trial conversion. Built to handle volume without losing finish.

Festival and cultural activations

Scaled, weatherproof builds designed for festival context, cultural moments and outdoor activation. See our event production services for the operational side of delivery.

Influencer and press events

Short-form, high-production activations designed for content capture and press amplification typically a single day or evening with a controlled guest list and high visual density.

Branded bar installations

Product launch bars, spirits activation bars, cocktail brand houses and mobile brand bars for multi-city roadshows. Functional centrepiece builds where the brand identity, product placement and hero shot are engineered together from sketch stage. Deep-dive: branded bar builds on our giant props page.

Sculptural archways and entrance moments

Statement archways that define the walk-in experience and land the hero photo. Faux floral, LED backlit, neon-integrated and sculptural sign-arch formats. Full range: bespoke archway installations on our giant props page.

Experiential marketing vs brand activation vs PR activation

Experiential marketing is the umbrella term. Brand activations and PR activations are specific formats within it. In practice most agencies and clients use the three terms interchangeably.

If you want a useful distinction: experiential marketing describes the discipline, brand activation describes a campaign whose primary goal is consumer engagement in-market, and PR activation describes a campaign whose primary goal is press and social reach. The build, design and execution challenges are very similar across all three.

PRESS FORMAT

Our approach to experiential marketing

We start with the headline. What is the one thing we want people to say about this campaign to press, to friends, on social? Everything else follows from that: scale, format, scenic direction, staffing, technology.

From there we build the response across concept, 3D visualisation, costed scope and delivery timeline. Once signed off, our London workshop handles production end-to-end scenic, joinery, finishes, print, rigging, AV with no external sub-contractors for the core build. That keeps quality consistent, timelines predictable and budgets under control.
